The rollout of the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog film has been, let's say, less than great. Compare it to that of Pokémon: Detective Pikachu: in that film, the designs of Pokémon in the live-action film may be a tad uncanny, but one can't say the designs of Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Ludicolo and the like aren't faithful to the animated characters. Meanwhile, every new bit of information about the Sonic live action film, particularly the design of the titular hedgehog, has been received with groans and eye rolls as fans worry the film will be yet another awful addition to the modern Sonic canon. The cycle began anew yesterday when the copy for ad agency Hamagami / Carrol, Inc. revealed the Sonic's design. Observe:
